A fantastic program to assist Low Income families and to promote AFFORDABLE housing in Austin.

 Austin Energy offers no-cost home energy improvements to qualifying customers with low-to-moderate incomes. The improvements reduce energy costs and enhance indoor comfort while improving indoor air quality.   Click Here to learn more.

  • Sealing up the structure and duct system to address air infiltration (picturre shows an ope furnace closet open to the attic and HOT!) 
  • Installing attic insulation
  • Duct repair and/or replacement
  • Installing solar screens
  • Installing smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors
  • Installing low flow sink and shower devices.

To participate in the AEWX Program, customers must:

  • Be a current Austin Energy customer
  • Have a home, or rent a home that is valued at less than $300,000 (excluding land)
  • Have a home that is less than 2,500 square feet

Program eligibility is determined by the following criteria:

Customer Assistance Program (CAP) - A person in the household is participating in one of the following programs:

  • Medicaid
  • Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
  • Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
  • Telephone Lifeline Program
  • Travis County Comprehensive Energy Assistance Program (CEAP)
  • Medical Access Program (MAP)
  • Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
